How to

Decluttering Kitchens

As the saying goes the kitchen is the heart of the home.

You want to be able to prepare meals quickly and enjoyably. Having too much clutter on the counters interferes with making meals easily.

The first thing to do is remove anything that isn’t kitchen related. I know this can be hard when space is limited but you need to separate out what really needs to be there from what doesn’t.

Pots and pans all thrown in the cabinets? You can’t find the right one even though you know it’s there somewhere? So frustrating! Having the equipment you need when you need it is important.

Do you have dishes, glasses and mugs that you never use but haven’t ever taken the time to sort through them? This can be an easy fix that can be accomplished in less time than you think.

Are your counters filled with gadgets that take up space? There ARE ways to arrange them better. Or maybe find other places to store the ones you don’t use too often. Or let go of some that you don’t use at all.

In other words re-organize in a way that makes sense for how you really use the kitchen.

The way you declutter any one of these areas is to take everything out to actually see what you have. Let go of the things you don’t use. Sometimes there will be things you haven’t seen in years! Then when you put things back you’ll have more space and you can put the things you do use most often in a more accessible place.

When your counters and cupboards are cleared it will go a long way to feeling less cluttered.
